Apple iOS 10 is now running on 54 per cent devices, reveals company’s OS distribution data of App Store. The Cupertino giant’s App Distribution page shows data measured by the App Store on October 7; with iOS 10 running on majority of devices (iPhone, iPad and iPod touch). Apple has put out the percentage of devices running on iOS 9 and earlier OS versions as well. While iOS 9 is now running on 38 per cent devices; devices running on earlier versions comprise of just 8 per cent. Interestingly Apple’s latest OS now runs on more than 50 per cent of devices just within a month of its releaseInitial reports showed a high adoption rate of iOS 10 with 14.53 per cent users downloading the same after 24 hours of the release. According to data from Mixpanel,  iOS 10 surpassed iOS 9’s adoption rate for under 24 hours. However, Mixpanel’s data was based on apps that use the company’s SDK, as opposed to Apple’s latest data which bases results on App Store visit.
To recall, the highlights of iOS 10 include a new lock screen, Siri being opened to third-party apps, new iMessage features, and changes to Photos app. The new lock screen now has widgets for most of the apps in the phone. It is a good way to access quick information without actually opening an app. Also, iMessages now has an app store of its own and a whole bunch of cool add-ons from scribbling to animations. Apple iOS 10 has more of Machine learning and Artificial Intelligence being used across the OS.
